No work of art exists in a vacuum! And so, while composing his clarinet concerto in 2010, Frank Ticheli turned to some of the greats for inspiration. The jazzy syncopations of George Gershwin, the pastoral melodies of Aaron Copland, the playful charisma of Leonard Bernstein—Ticheli’s Clarinet Concerto pays tribute to all three!

This Saturday on Second Inversion: American Winds. We’ll hear Ticheli’s Clarinet Concerto in conversation with the three great American composers who inspired it.

To listen, tune in to Classical KING on Saturday, August 31 at 9pm PT.
