John Luther Adams is a composer who rarely takes selfies. He much prefers landscapes.

In fact, his music has been described as “sonic geography.” For him, it’s all about inviting the listener into something bigger than we are.

This Saturday on Second Inversion: Become Desert. We’ll get lost in John Luther Adams’ sprawling desert soundscape, with music that is rooted in stillness, space, and light. Plus, Adams joins Classical KING’s Dave Beck in studio to talk about his journey from tundra to desert, his fascination with immense spaces, and the importance of using just the right tools—in his case, the very best number 2 pencil.

To listen, tune in to Classical KING on Saturday, February 3 at 9pm PT.
