Calm overnights at Classical KING

We want to be completely transparent with our listeners who have noticed the recent changes in our programming during the unhosted hours between 12 am and 5 am. Over the summer and into the fall, we encountered a significant challenge as a number of our hosts were unfortunately sidelined due to COVID and other illnesses, making it a real struggle to maintain our regular host schedule.

While overnights are an integral part of our programming, they are not always as frequently heard. This increased demand, coupled with host absences, has put a strain on both our hosts and our overall programming. As a result, we’ve made the decision to curate our overnight content to ensure a high-quality listening experience.

We’ve also had to cover various timeslots for a range of reasons and factors, leading to the transition to curated programming from our Calm Channel. This change was necessary to maintain the overall quality of our content.

We are actively exploring alternative ways to utilize our hosts, which will not only alleviate the burden of overnights but also contribute positively to our programming team’s efforts. In addition to our coverage challenges, revenues have been down across public radio, and Classical KING is no exception, so we are not able to hire more staff. Your understanding and support during this time are greatly appreciated.
