On-Air Highlights 

Music Feature: Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 

Date: Monday, January 20, 2025, 8:30pm 

This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Classical KING honors the legacy of a civil rights icon who changed the world with his vision and leadership. Join host David Wall for a special program featuring music inspired by Dr. King’s life and work. The evening’s selections will reflect themes of hope, resilience, and the ongoing journey toward equality. Tune in for this heartfelt tribute on Classical KING. 

 

Seattle Chamber Music Society Winter Festival Broadcast 

Date: Friday, January 24, 2025, 7:30pm 

Kick off the Seattle Chamber Music Society’s 2025 Winter Festival with a stunning live broadcast from Classical KING. Hosted by Sean MacLean, this concert features works from the second half of the 19th century, including pieces by Amy Beach, Cecile Chaminade, Borodin, and Brahms. With an intermission interview by Dave Beck, this evening showcases world-class musicianship and timeless repertoire. Don’t miss the magic of this special event. 

 

Metropolitan Opera

Date: Saturday, January 25, 2025, 9:30am 

Travel back to ancient Egypt with Verdi’s Aida, a tale of love, loyalty, and sacrifice. This legendary opera tells the story of Radamès, a captain torn between his love for the captured Ethiopian princess Aida and his duty to his country. The Metropolitan Opera’s masterful production brings this timeless drama to life. Tune in to Classical KING for this live broadcast.

The Score with Edmund Stone 

Date: Saturday, January 25, 2025, 4pm 

Step into the cinematic world with Edmund Stone as he explores The History of the World According to Hollywood. This week’s episode features scores from films like Troy, The Vikings, and One Million Years BC, offering a uniquely entertaining take on history as reimagined by the silver screen. It’s a lesson in history—and Hollywood—like no other. 

Date: Sunday, January 26, 2025, 4pm 

Edmund Stone doffs the Tam O’Shanter to Scotland in this special episode of The Score. Celebrate Rabbie Burns Day with music from Braveheart, Mary Queen of Scots, Highlander, and Macbeth. Scottish actors Leslie Mackie (The Wicker Man) and Brian Cox (Succession) join to toast the legacy of Scotland’s famous poet. It’s a musical tartan you won’t want to miss. 

Second Inversion 

Date: Saturday, January 25, 2025, 9pm 

Look to the stars this weekend with Second Inversion’s celestial-themed program, Starry Night. Featuring music inspired by the cosmos, this show highlights shimmering compositions that evoke the beauty of the night sky. Emerald City Music Chamber Music Karaoke

Auburn Symphony: Soulful Serenade

Location: Auburn Performing Arts Center 

Immerse yourself in the Auburn Symphony’s enchanting Soulful Serenade concert.
