Welcome to a new week at Classical KING, where we bring you the best in classical music, both from our local community and from the world’s most prestigious stages. Here’s what we have lined up for you this week. 

Music Feature: St. Patrick’s Day 

Date: Monday, March 17 

Get ready for a musical journey to the Emerald Isle! This St. Patrick’s Day, we’re celebrating with music from Irish composers throughout the day. From lively reels and jigs to sweeping orchestral works, every hour will bring you a taste of Ireland’s rich musical heritage. 

Tune in, wear your green, and join us for a day of festive music and Irish charm. Sláinte! 

 

Music Feature: Spring Solstice 

Date: Thursday, March 20 – Sunday, March 23 

Spring is in the air, and Classical KING is marking the changing of the season with music that embodies renewal, growth, and the warmth of the sun returning. 

From Vivaldi’s Spring to contemporary works that capture the energy of nature’s awakening, we’re bringing you a soundtrack that celebrates the beauty of the season. Breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the blossoms, and let the music of spring uplift you. 

 

Classical KING’s Northwest Focus Live 

Date: Friday, March 21 | 7:00pm 

 Host: Sean MacLean 

 Featuring: Seattle Flute Society’s 2025 Horsfall Competition Winners 

Each year, young flutists showcase their talent in the Seattle Flute Society’s Horsfall Competition, and this year’s winners are bringing their extraordinary musicianship to Northwest Focus Live. 

Join host Sean MacLean for a captivating evening of live performances from some of Seattle’s most talented young musicians.  

 

MET Opera Broadcast 

Date: Saturday, March 22nd | 10:00am 

 Program: The Child and the Spells (Ravel) / The Breasts of Tiresias (Poulenc) 

The MET Opera presents a double feature celebrating the whimsy and imagination of childhood with Ravel’s The Child and the Spells and Poulenc’s The Breasts of Tiresias. 

In honor of the 100th anniversary of Ravel’s opera, this broadcast transports listeners to a world where toys come to life and magical lessons unfold. Tune in Saturday morning at 10am for an unforgettable operatic experience.  Visit the MET Opera Saturday Broadcast page for more details.

 

Second Inversion: Treasure State 

Date: Saturday, March 22nd | 9:00pm 

Montana, known as The Treasure State, has a musical landscape as vast as its big sky. This week on Second Inversion, we’re exploring the sounds of Montana, from folk fiddle traditions to experimental percussion that draws inspiration from the land itself. 

Join Maggie Molloy for a night of musical discovery.

 

Northwest Focus Concert Calendar 

Rain City Symphony: Beethoven, Ravel, Coleridge-Taylor 

Date: Wednesday, March 19th @ 7:30pm 

Location: First Free Methodist Church, Seattle 

The Rain City Symphony presents their Winter concert, featuring selections from Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite, Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3, and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Four Characteristic Waltzes. 

 

Bach in the Subways 

Date: Saturday, March 22nd (All Day) 

Location: Crossroads Mall Mainstage, Bellevue 

Join the international movement celebrating the music of Johann Sebastian Bach! Every year for his birthday, musicians worldwide perform in public spaces, and you can experience it firsthand at Crossroads Mall in Bellevue, starting at 10am. 

 

Ballet Victoria & Victoria Choral Society: Carmina Burana 

Date: Saturday, March 22nd @ 7:30pm 

Location: Royal Theatre, Victoria, BC 

Experience Carl Orff’s epic Carmina Burana in a powerful performance featuring the Victoria Choral Society and conductor Brian Wismath. A thrilling night of medieval-inspired music and orchestral grandeur.
