Northwest Focus Live spotlights a dynamic duo with deep Pacific Northwest roots. Seattle Symphony: Augustin Hadelich Plays Prokofiev

First Notes of the New Year 

From the first tuning note to the final applause, live classical music is back across the Pacific Northwest. This month, choirs, orchestras, bands, and more are returning to the stage, filling concert halls and community spaces. Celebrate the First Notes of the New Year with performances by local artists and composers, and explore concerts happening near you through Live Music Project. 

 

New Year, New Music 

Saturdays | 8pm-12am 

Saturday nights are evolving on Classical KING. From 8pm to midnight, explore four hours of contemporary sound beginning with Second Inversion at 8pm and continuing with KEXP’s Pacific Notions at 10pm – a serene, immersive blend of atmospheric and ambient soundscapes hosted by DJ Alex.

History Repeats Itself: Timeloops   

Saturday, January 17 | 4pm 

Join Edmund Stone of The Score as he takes a look and a listen to films about temporal loops and time travel. When history repeats itself it’s time to learn from our mistakes and break the cycle, with films including Source Code, Groundhog Day, Edge of Tomorrow and more. This Saturday on The Score.

Sunday, January 18 | 4pm 

Edmund Stone pays homage to cinema greats who passed away in 2025. Raise your glass to memories of Val Kilmer in Top Gun, Robert Redford in The Sting, Diane Keaton in The Godfather, Graham Green in Dances With Wolves, and more. For days of auld lang syne… This Sunday on The Score.
