Julius Eastman

As a gay Black composer working in New York City during the AIDS epidemic, Julius Eastman’s music was always political. He used his music to challenge his audiences, forcing them to confront difficult questions about what classical music is, who it’s for, and who is allowed to participate in it. On this Saturday’s episode of Second Inversion, join Maggie Molloy for a look into the life and legacy of Julius Eastman—a composer ahead of his time whose radical ideas are still provoking new conversations today.

World Leaders: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – We the People…

Thus begins one of the most important documents in recent history – the preamble of the United States Constitution. When this country was founded, those who fought for independence urged their people to form a more perfect Union were leaders. Join Edmund Stone as he showcases films that examine the qualities of leadership throughout history and around the world – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. From Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln, to Ramses in The Ten Commandments, and Hitler in Valkyrie, it’s an extraordinary look and listen to world leadership.
