Colors of the Rainbow 

Saturday, June 28 | 9pm 

Host: Maggie Molloy 

This Saturday on Second Inversion, we’re tuning in to the colors of the rainbow! From pastel strings to bold, brassy flourishes, composers invite us to hear the orchestra in vivid color. We take stroll the rolling green hills of Ireland, swim with a blue whale, bite into a juicy Valencia orange, and lose ourselves in a prismatic rainbow of sound. 

 

The Score with Edmund Stone 

Juggernauts: Part 1 

Saturday, June 28 | 4pm 

Sometimes Hollywood brings such a popular or powerful movie that it sweeps through the competition like a tidal wave. This Saturday on The Score Edmund Stone is featuring some of these winner-take-all films and some of the contenders that deserve a second look in Part One of Juggernauts. Enjoy music from the 2004 award season with Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King vs The Last Samurai, Forest Gump vs The Shawshank Redemption from the ’95 season, Oppenheimer and Barbie in 2024 and more. 

 

History of America According to Hollywood: Part 1 

Sunday, June 29 | 4pm 

This Sunday on The Score Edmund Stone celebrates America’s birthday with a look, through the cameras of Hollywood, at the country’s history. From pre-colonial days as depicted in The New World, to the Civil War in Glory, through the westward expansion in Dances with Wolves, and life in post-World War II era with The Best Years of our Lives, it’s a dazzling musical depiction of some of the highlights of our history.   

 

Northwest Focus Concert Calendar 

Interlude Summer Festival Concert & Workshop: consonari 

Friday, June 27 at 7pm | Cross of Christ Luteran Church, Bellevue 

Collaborative Musicians’ Project presents their Interlude Summer Festival featuring this concert by American ensemble consonari. Dedicated to promoting new music, this concert will feature a pre-event lecture and discussion at 5:30 for prospective music students. 

 

Folio: Songs of Hildegard Von Bingen for Harp by Monica Schley 

Friday, June 27 at 7pm | The Seattle Athenaeum at Pike Place Market 

An ethereal evening of twelfth century harp music in the heart of Seattle! Join harpist Monica Schley for a program curated around the songs of twelfth century composer Hildegard von Bingen. 

 

Olympia Symphony Orchestra: Believe 

Saturday, June 28 at 11am | Port Plaza, Olympia 

Start your Pride weekend with a symphonic celebration of love, resilience, and the power of music to bring us together! The Olympia Symphony proudly presents “Believe”—a free outdoor concert as part of Capital City Pride.
