Seattle’s Philharmonia Northwest marks 50 years of music-making this season. Join host Dave Beck for a special Northwest Focus Live broadcast celebrating one of the region’s longest-running chamber orchestras. Founded in 1976, the ensemble brings together accomplished regional musicians to perform programs that blend classical favorites, hidden gems, and contemporary works—highlighting five decades of community, collaboration, and music in Seattle.

Medieval Women’s Choir: A Sherwood Forest Frolic

Founded in 1990, the Medieval Women’s Choir is a non-audition ensemble open to all who identify as women, performing music of the Middle Ages in a variety of historical languages and often collaborating with musicians who specialize in period instruments. Their upcoming concert, “A Sherwood Forest Frolic,” invites audiences into a lively medieval celebration inspired by the world of Robin Hood, featuring music, storytelling, dancing, and festive fare. This beloved semi-annual event has become a Seattle tradition—part concert, part community gathering—where audiences are encouraged to sing, celebrate, and step into the spirit of the Middle Ages.
Seattle Peace Chorus | Resilience: Dare to Dream

Founded in 1983, the Seattle Peace Chorus uses music to promote peace, justice, and community connection, bringing people together through performances and cultural exchange that celebrate diversity and encourage dialogue across cultures. Their concert “Resilience: Dare to Dream” blends choral music and poetry centered on hope, belonging, and the courage to imagine a better world—drawing inspiration from Langston Hughes’ poem Dreams and the voices of poets and composers who call us to keep dreaming.
Renton City Concert Band: Let’s Start with Joy

Founded as a 60–70 member community ensemble, the Renton City Concert Band brings together volunteer musicians from across the region to perform classic band repertoire for local audiences. Their upcoming family-friendly concert offers an upbeat mix of styles, from Broadway favorites and folk-inspired classics to traditional band showpieces, designed to send audiences home smiling.
The Washington Wind Symphony: Footprints of the Masters

The Washington Wind Symphony, a 50-member ensemble that has performed wind band repertoire in the Seattle region for more than 35 years, presents “Footprints of the Masters,” a concert exploring how great composers influence generations that follow. The concert concludes with David Maslanka’s Give Us This Day, a modern “short symphony” widely regarded as one of the most significant works for wind ensemble in the 21st century.
Key to Change: Spring Salon Community Concert

The Key to Change Spring Salon Community Concert celebrates young musicians taking an exciting step in their musical journey. Students from Key to Change, an organization that provides high-quality music education and leadership development for underserved youth, will perform as soloists with the Federal Way Symphony on the stage of Benaroya Hall. For several violin and viola students, this concert marks their first appearance with a full orchestra. It’s a milestone moment made possible by the community that supports their growth through music.

This week on The Score Edmund Stone takes a look and a listen to some films that feature animals that are amongst the most frightening creatures in the world. From the sharks in Jaws to Mufasa in The Lion King, and eagles in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, it’s ferociously good music.
The Ides of March and other Prophecies

This Sunday on The Score creator, producer and host Edmund Stone peers into the future with a show called The Ides of March and Other Prophecies. Enjoy music from movies where prophecies are foretold and destinies fulfilled including The Tragedy of Macbeth, Dune, Alice in Wonderland, Arrival and more.
Metropolitan Opera
Verdi: La Traviata

Verdi’s beloved opera La Traviata returns in a live broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera. One of the most powerful love stories in the repertory, the drama follows the ill-fated Parisian courtesan Violetta Valéry as she fights for love while time slips away. Soprano stars Lisette Oropesa, Rosa Feola, and Ermonela Jaho share the iconic role in this production, staged by Tony Award–winning director Michael Mayer in a dreamy setting that matches the poetry and passion of Verdi’s unforgettable score.
