This week on Northwest Focus Live, we welcome back longtime friends of Classical KING: Sound Salon. Formerly Byron Schenkman & Friends, Sound Salon brings a diverse set of 21st-century perspectives to classical traditions, with an inclusive community of top-tier musicians. Baroque violinist Guillermo Salas-Suárez and keyboardist Byron Schenkman join host Sean MacLean for a captivating performance. Learn more about Sound Salon 

 

From the Top 

Saturday, March 29 | 7pm 

This Saturday | 7pm, hear the next generation of classical musicians on From the Top! In January, NPR’s From the Top recorded talented young artists from the Pacific Northwest right here at the Classical KING studios in Seattle. Now, their performances and stories take center stage.

Northwest Focus Concert Calendar 

Seattle Historical Arts Recital Series: Baroque Cello & Viola de Gamba 

Saturday, March 29 | 7:30pm 

Faith Lutheran Church, Seattle 

Experience the beauty of 17th- and 18th-century music in a debut solo recital by Nick Chrisman, joined by guest artist Henry Lebedinsky on harpsichord. The evening also features a performance by the Early Music Youth Academy. 

 

Town Music: Charlie Albright 

Saturday, March 29 | 7:30pm 

Town Hall Seattle 

Acclaimed pianist, composer, and improviser Charlie Albright takes the stage for a thrilling performance. A recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Albright brings his dynamic artistry to Town Hall Seattle. 

  

Northwest Boychoir & VocalPoint! Seattle: Choral Tradition Nocturnes 

Saturday, March 29 | 7:30pm &  Sunday, March 30 | 4pm 

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church | Episcopal Church of the Ascension 

Join Northwest Boychoir and VocalPoint! Seattle for a breathtaking exploration of nighttime moods through choral music featuring works by Britten, Lauridsen, and Rheinberger.

Experience the Met Opera premiere of Moby-Dick, a powerful new production of Jake Heggie’s opera, based on Herman Melville’s classic novel. This epic musical drama explores the cycle of life, death, and rebirth with gripping realism.

From Jaws to The Lion King, explore thrilling soundtracks that bring some of the animal kingdom’s most fearsome creatures to life. 

 

Second Inversion 

Fire in My Mouth 

Saturday, March 29 | 9pm 

Julia Wolfe’s Fire in My Mouth tells the tragic story of the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire through haunting choral and orchestral music. This powerful oratorio features a choir of 146 voices, paying tribute to the garment workers who changed history.
