October 23, 2024

Public Radio Music Day is October 23, 2024. What is the home of Classical Music in the Pacific Northwest doing to celebrate?

LOCAL PERFORMANCES ALL DAY

Classical KING Music Director, Aaron Stoess, curated a special playlist for our hosts to share with the community featuring  performances by Pacific Northwest artists.

You can view the playlist as the music is broadcasted here.

THANKING OUR LOCAL PACIFIC NORTHWEST MUSIC TEACHERS ON-AIR

Music Teachers throughout the Pacific Northwest help make our community vibrant and rich by sharing the arts with the next generation. THANK YOU to every music teacher that helps bring the joy of the arts and music to every student they teach!

CLASSICAL KING EXCLUSIVE VIDEOS FEATURING YOUNG ARTISTS

Videos of the winners of the 2024 Frances Walton Competition, recorded during Classical KING’s local performance show Northwest Focus Live, will be posted on NPR Live sessions.

Pianist Sean Yang performs the Etude No.3 in E Major, composed by Frederic Chopin. Chopin thought that the melody in this Etude was the most beautiful of all he’d written.

Percussionist Kana Funayama performs Kaze no Sobyō, composed by Sana Fujimori. This gorgeous piece, whose title translates to “Ancestor of the Wind”, was written specifically for Kana who gave its world premiere this September.

The Frances Walton Competition is a program of the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle.

Thank you for listening and supporting Classical KING.
