Ever feel like a strange bird in a flock of sparrows? You’re not alone!

This Saturday on Second Inversion, we’re taking flight through the music of Takashi Yoshimatsu, a composer whose works explore birds of the sky and birds of the mind. These aren’t just mockingbirds or nightingales—but strange birds, cyber birds, and birds whose songs you have never heard before!

Yoshimatsu described his work as “the task of searching for new wings with which to fly from the chaotic woods and the world of contemporary music.” Let your imagination take flight!

To listen, tune in to Classical KING on Saturday, April 12 at 9pm PT.

Takashi Yoshimatsu’s Cyber-Bird Saxophone Concerto is among the featured works in this week’s episode. For a sneak peek, check out these performances from saxophonist Jichen Zhang and pianist Meng Liu, recorded on Classical KING’s NW Focus LIVE.
