What was that pivotal record in your life that opened your ears to a world of new sounds? A record you could’ve worn the grooves out of, you played it so often?

For the composer Philip Glass, David Bowie’s 1977 album Heroes was one of those records. Art rock that ventured boldly into the future. A triumph of love over war, creation over destruction—and for Bowie, freedom over addiction. In fact, Heroes left such a lasting impression that Glass used it as the basis of his Fourth Symphony.

This Saturday on Second Inversion: we can be heroes! We’ll hear David Bowie’s iconic record through the ears of Philip Glass.

To listen, tune in to Classical KING on Saturday, August 3 at 9pm PT.
