This week Northwest Focus Live features Early Music Seattle’s Emerging Artist Patricia Garcia Gil in Not Only Muses: Trailblazers of the Piano World. The program celebrates pioneering composers Marianna Martines, Hélène de Montgeroult, and Clara Wieck, with their music performed on a replica 1815 fortepiano.

Ladies Musical Club: Music for Flute & Oboe | “Music of the Sea” for Voices & Piano
Saturday, April 18 | 2pm | Mirabella Seattle
A dual-themed afternoon of chamber music from one of Seattle’s oldest classical organizations. The program opens with works for flute and oboe performed by Stasia Kulsa and Sharon Jung, followed by “Music of the Sea,” featuring soprano Katie Hochman and Regina Thomas with pianist Joan Lundquist. The program includes music by Fanny Mendelssohn, Elgar, Brahms, Amy Beach, and more. Founded in 1891, the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle supports classical music through performance, education, and community programs across Washington State.
Temple of Music: Grammy Award-Winning Violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan
Saturday, April 18 | 4pm | BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Redmond
An evening of Indian music led by Grammy Award-winning violin virtuoso Ganesh Rajagopalan. Joined by his brother Kumaresh Rajagopalan, the program features dCarnatic violin artistry alongside rich rhythmic accompaniment on mridangam and ghatam. Known for blending tradition with innovation, Ganesh’s performances span classical repertoire and boundary-crossing collaborations. Temple of Music is a nonprofit dedicated to sharing Indian classical music through concerts, education programs, and cross-cultural artistic exploration.
Seattle Chamber Orchestra: Jazz at SCO

A genre-blending evening where chamber music meets the jazz club. The Seattle Chamber Orchestra presents Claude Bolling’s Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio, featuring flutist Wendy Wilhelmi alongside bassist Ross Gilliland and pianist Lorenzo Marasso. This intimate, RSVP-only house concert offers a fresh, playful take on classical performance. Founded in 2021, Seattle Chamber Orchestra brings together world-class musicians to explore dynamic programs that bridge traditional and modern styles while reimagining the live concert experience.
Olympia Symphony: MOVE

A powerful season finale celebrating bold music and unforgettable artistry. Pacific Northwest harpist Elizabeth Landis is featured in Ginastera’s Harp Concerto, a vibrant and rhythmically charged showpiece, followed by Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5—one of the most gripping and triumphant works of the 20th century. Founded in 1947, the Olympia Symphony Orchestra is the South Sound’s premier orchestra, known for its artistic excellence and deep commitment to community through a wide range of performances and programs.

The categories include Most Romantic Kiss, Best Use of the Comic Trope “He’s standing behind me, right?”, Best Expendable Minor Character, Most Bumbling Law Enforcement Character and more. Kaija Saariaho’s final opera Innocence confronts the lasting trauma of a school shooting with striking emotional force. Set years after the tragedy, the story unfolds at a wedding where buried grief resurfaces, revealing the deep and interconnected scars left behind. The opera blends multiple vocal styles, from traditional singing to spoken expression and folk influences, to create a haunting and immersive sound world.
