Seattle Center Festal: Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival (Music Feature)
Monday, April 6 – Friday, April 10
From Tokyo to Seattle, this week celebrates the beauty and tradition of Japanese culture. Experience Hanami, the custom of viewing cherry blossoms, while honoring the city’s deep cultural ties to Japan. Seattle Center revives its longest-running Festal celebration, first launched in 1976 following the gift of 1,000 cherry trees from Japan’s former Prime Minister. In anticipation, Classical KING is featuring Japanese composers, conductors, and ensembles all week long. The Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival is open to the public this weekend at the Armory Food & Event Hall.

This week Northwest Focus Live features The Westerlies, a Seattle-rooted, New York-based brass ensemble known for their genre-blending sound. Their annual Westerlies Fest returns to the region, combining evening performances with daytime educational programs that engage students and underserved communities, giving back to the city that shaped them.
