Hear the Seattle Symphony Friday night on Classical KING as conductor Daniele Rustioni and violinist Francesca Dego make their Seattle Symphony debuts. The program opens with Mascagni’s Intermezzo from Cavalleria rusticana in tribute to Becky Benaroya, then traces musical connections from Bach to Busoni and Brahms through works reimagined by Webern and Schoenberg.

The Seattle Mandolin Orchestra returns the instrument to its Italian roots with an evening of Italian and Italian-American music at Casa Italiana. Featuring the full mandolin family, from mandolin and mandola to mandocello and mandobass, the program also welcomes soprano Julie Finch for a selection of arias and art songs.

Ladies Musical Club: An Exploration into the Unaccompanied Flute | The Passing of the Eldar

Explore two very different musical worlds in one evening as Ladies Musical Club presents a program that begins with solo flute and ends in Middle-earth. Flutist Stasia Kulsa performs works ranging from the traditional Chinese melody Whipping Horses to Deliver Grain to Ian Clarke’s The Great Train Race, followed by Susan Strick and Don McKenzie’s Tolkien-inspired song cycle The Passing of the Eldar.

Seattle Bach Festival : Day of Historical Keyboards

Ever wondered what came before the modern piano? Seattle Bach Festival presents a full day devoted to the clavichord, harpsichord, lautenwerk, fortepiano, and organ, with short recitals, Q&A sessions, and opportunities to see the instruments up close. Hear music by Bach, the Couperins, Mozart, Marianna Martines, and more while exploring centuries of keyboard history.

This Sunday on The Score, we’re taking a closer listen to music from films and television connected to the Pacific Northwest. It’s a special episode of The Score handcrafted by Edmund Stone specifically for Classical KING listeners. Featuring music from Sleepless in Seattle, An Officer and a Gentleman, Harry and the Hendersons, and more. With Seattle as a frequent backdrop, and nearby Vancouver known as “Hollywood North,” the region has played a major role in film and TV production.
