Not a Typical Virtual Concert: Inside the SCMS Virtual Concert Hall

For more than 40 years, Classical KING has been proud to share the music of the Seattle Chamber Music Society with listeners throughout our region. From the very first Summer Festival in 1982, when we began broadcasting concerts live, to today’s performances at Benaroya Hall and beyond, SCMS has been a vital part of our musical community.

The Festival’s musicians are widely recognized for their artistry. The Seattle Times has described them as “the equivalent of an all star lineup. A dream team of chamber players.” Anyone who has attended a concert or listened to a broadcast knows the level of care, collaboration, and excellence these performances bring.

The SCMS Virtual Concert Hall offers another way to experience that same world class music making. Performances are presented using six HD camera angles, offering views you simply cannot see from a seat in the hall. Close ups, wide shots, and on stage perspectives allow audiences to follow the musicians in a more intimate and detailed way.

Alongside the performances, the Virtual Concert Hall includes behind the scenes content, commentary, and live musician interviews during intermission. These interviews are hosted by Classical KING and give audiences the opportunity to hear directly from the artists about the music they are performing, how the ensemble works together, and what shapes their interpretations.

Two weeks after each performance, Virtual Concert Hall audiences receive an email notification when the on demand concert is ready to watch. These performances remain available to rewatch through March 16, 2026, allowing listeners to return to the music on their own schedule to revisit their virtual concert experience.

The result is not a typical virtual concert. It is an experience designed to bring you closer to the music, offering perspectives, conversations, and flexibility that deepen the listening experience while preserving the artistry at the center of every performance.
