Northwest Focus Live
Vashon Opera: Falstaff
Friday, August 29 | 7pm
Host: Nikhil Sarma
On this week’s Northwest Focus Live, Vashon Opera is bringing selections from their production of Verdi’s comedic classic, Falstaff, to the Classical KING studios! The story tells of the Caddish knight Sir John Falstaff as he tries to get his hands on some cash by seducing two wealthy wives of Windsor. Second Inversion
The American Seasons
Saturday, August 30 | 9pm
Host: Maggie Molloy
Mark O’Connor is both a classical violinist and a world-class fiddler, depending on who you ask. This Saturday on Second Inversion, we’ll hear him perform his own violin concerto modeled after Vivaldi’s famous Four Seasons—but with an Americana twist. Plus: a dream jam session in the Appalachian Mountains, and a rendition of “Amazing Grace” that’ll leave you misty-eyed.
The Score with Edmund Stone
Nine Lives
Saturday, August 30 | 4pm
This Saturday on The Score, Edmund Stone brings you Fractured Fairy Tales. For centuries people have been telling tales about strange and wondrous beings and magical events, but Hollywood’s taken this to a whole new level with their own spins on the classics. Join Edmund as he weaves his own magical story with music from movies such as Shrek, Puss In Boots, Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio, Enchanted and more. There’s nothing Grimm about this episode of The Score!
Math Rocks
Sunday, August 31 | 4pm
It’s time to get Back to School! On this Sunday’s episode Edmund Stone has a “number” of reasons to learn to love the subject of math – go figure! Listen to music from soundtracks of films that prove that school can be cool and math is awesome. Learn how to survive when stranded on Mars with The Martian, check out the team of codebreakers that saved Europe in WWII with The Enigma Game, match minds with Steven Hawking in A Brief History of Time, and more.
